Family portraits are so important. Neal Urban Photography can not stress enough to wedding couples how important it is to block off a little time for those. When people pass, photos are a way to remember them by. Erin and Ryan did have a few large group portraits that needed taken. Luckily the ceremony and reception were at Statler and we were able to use the stairs outside of the Golden Ballroom. Having stairs made it so much easier to pose the family.
Neal Urban Studio will take charge during large portraits. When the drinks are flowing, people tend to wander. We group the smaller sub families together and then place everyone in together. We had already tested out the lighting so we could keep everyone moving and back into cocktail hour.
Typically a parent of the bride or groom will request a large group family portrait. So we make sure to tell her to let the family know we will be calling them in. This always helps to keep everyone on point. They are so grateful in the end when we nail the shot!
