Bernadette and Jorge had a super high end engagement session. We did the session around Delaware Park, Hoyt Lake, and Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. Both bride and groom to be were from out of town. Bernadette had flown in a few days before. Jorge was supposed to arrive the night before, but got delayed due to weather and arrived about 2 hours before the session. Bernadette's dresses had not arrived either. We felt so bad. She was very stressed out and we suggested shooting the next day. Unfortunately, Jorge was going to be flying out the same night. We got confirmation dresses arrived, as well as Jorge, and we were shooting!
We were all really hoping for snow. We had a small dusting, but the temperatures were rising and a lot was melting. It was pretty slushy in areas of the park. Thank goodness Bernadette wore her warm boots to change in and out of. We started out the session inside of the park and ended at the Art Gallery. This couple was amazing at posing! This allowed us to get really creative with lighting for more of a dramatic feel.
This was taken to the side of the main staircase at the Gallery. Neal wanted to have everything look really dark and dramatic, but still see hints of texture in the columns and building. The main focus of lighting was on the couple. We had Bernadette take Jorge by the hand and slowly lead him. She looked back toward him then slightly tilted her head down. The outfits were perfect for this part of the session too. The royal blue in Bernadette's dress was gorgeous and paired so well with Jorge's suit!
We cannot wait to photograph this couple's wedding this year (2019). The great thing is their wedding ceremony is going to be at the Rose Garden in Delaware Park. The reception is to follow at the Marcy Casino right next door! We will be able to get a completely different look using some of the same areas in the park. It will be a different season and everything will look different!
