Jenne and Michael had a gorgeous wedding. The ceremony was at St. Joseph University in Buffalo. We went for photos (idle) at Knox Farm in East Aurora. The reception was at the Columns Banquets in Elma, NY.
When the bride and groom tell us they want to do a sparkler send off toward the end of the night, we get excited. You see in this image, there are no sparklers. We like the after effects with the smoke.
For Jenne and Michael, they had sparkler heaven. We had never seen so much smoke. They were set up in the courtyard at the venue. Once they ran through the line of guests holding sparklers, we took the bride and groom off to the side where there were trees.
Then we place a light behind the couple. When the flash went off, it showed the hazy effect of the smoke. We turned the white balance to a cool blue tone. Once the light went off, it created a spot light effect too. It looked like the lights were moving behind the couple.
We did not use any lights on the front because we wanted to keep the overall scene dark. There was just enough back light to brighten up parts of the trees. We did a simple pose with the bride and groom. This was an amazing shot to end the night!
