This was a red carpet style engagement session! We started off Christine and Chris's shoot at Niagara Square/Buffalo City Hall area in downtown Buffalo. They wore more casual outfits for that part.
We always offer two outfit changes for an engagement session. We like to have one super dressy and one casual. Can you tell this image shows the dressy part of the shoot!
We headed over to the Statler for this part of the session. It was right across the street from City Hall! While they were getting changed inside of the Statler, we walked around to see what we wanted to do. We had a good idea going in, but you never know what is going to happen. We did know however, we wanted to use the giant spot lights they have at the entrance to the main lobby.
Christine and Chris look like movie stars! I felt like we needed to get their autographs after this shot! We did use some added lighting for this shot too. We needed some on the front of the couple. It was a little too dark inside. We also had to do some photoshop work. More than Neal likes because we try to get everything done in camera. But, the spotlight was not on and and we needed it on! There was no way around that. It helped to make the image even more glamorous!
Little did we know, during this time of the engagement session, we could come up with an idea for Christine and Chris's wedding the next year in September of 2016! Their wedding ceremony was at St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston, NY. Then we headed to Hotel Henry for photos. It was under constructions, so we couldn't go in, but we worked around the grounds. The reception was at the Hotel at the Lafayette.
We incorporated their entire wedding party for an end of the night shot at the Lafayette. Since everyone always has there cell phones with them, we asked the party to turn on their flash lights and pretend to be paparazzi. You can see how that idea tied into the red carpet style image form their engagement session!
Amazing ideas are always popping up at any time! It's just remembering them that is the hard part!
