Neal Urban Photography has found a love for dance photography and portraits. A ballet dancer moves across the floor with a near supernatural grace. The dancers body a blend of strength and elegance. Every leap, stretch, and pirouette is a testament to all those long hours spent rehearsing, learning, and challenging themselves. The muscles work in perfect coordination with each other, every movement appearing effortless as they master the most challenging tricks. With elegant step and beautiful movements, they tell an emotion and utter a word without words, engrossing an audience in an enchanting wordless conversation. Whether they tread the boards on a large or a small stage, a ballet dancer fascinates, imprinting something to remember in an audience of good fortune that can behold their effort.
Capturing a ballet dancer or any other dancer was an amazing challenge for Neal Urban Photography. Timing needed to be perfect. The dancer is the artist in these photo session. Dancers strive for perfection as they continue their dance journey. Neal Urban will team up with them and have the dancer correct any movements they feel need changes. A slight bend in the arm or raise of the leg can make a huge difference for a dancer, especially a ballet dancer.
Neal Urban Photography hosted dance session at an abandoned theater in Fort Niagara State Park. There were so many different styles of dance. Ballet, specifically pointe, really pulled Neal and Danielle Urban into dance photographer even more. For all of the dance session, just like Neal Urban Photography portrait sessions, chats were done with the dancers to get to know their style of dance, their favorite dance moves or poses, as well as the outfits or costumes they would be wearing. Usually the dance moms and dads were on outfit duty making sure everything was brought and more! Flowing skirts and dresses make for stunning dance photos. Anything to show off movement with the dancers body. Leotards show off line and definition of arms/legs if that is what a dancer wants to focus on for photos.
Silhouettes in the abandon theater were so cool. Adding in the smoke and lighting creating fun and dramatic shadows. The more dramatic the dance post, the more artistic the images turned out!
Neal Urban Photography has photographed dancers who needed portfolios updated, new portfolios, galleries and albums for college applications, and even competition dancers. The dance world and family is something amazing for Neal Urban Photography to be part of.
