Two sisters dance and swirl across the room, their giggles dancing on the wind as they stroll side by side. Their affection is in every step, in every turn, as though the rhythm of the music taps out their ownmutual energy. Their footsteps are light and free, a stunning mix of strength and elegance, as they let go in the dance, hand in hand. Their smiles are as bright as their hearts, and nothing else could matter in this moment but pure enjoyment of the dance together.
Neal Urban Photography really enjoyed photographing these sisters at our Abandon Theater Dance Sessions at Fort Niagara State Park. Neal Urban Photography had photographed the older sister outdoor at Fort Niagara a few months earlier for ballet photos. When Neal Urban Photography released the Abandon Theater Sessions, mom wanted both daughters photographed! The younger daughter was only a few years into dance and it would be a great opportunity to have her photographed with her sister and mentor. Both sisters attend Janet Dunstan Dance Lewiston NY.
Mom had so many ideas for the girls session. Neal Urban Photography had asked mom to send over ideas in advance. Neal Urban Portraits had some ideas for the stage to have the older sister be shown as a teacher/mentor to her sister. Posing for this shot had to be perfect. Lily being on pointe but had to have her one leg higher than her sister Nora took a few tries. Neal and Danielle Urban had to tweak the original idea and bring Nora all the way down to the ground. Originally she was in a split, but it made her a took tall. Both girls have similar arm extensions and look off the same way. Neal Urban Photography knew they wanted this image to be black and white in the end, so we had the girls look serious for this. So much more drama!
